How to add Table Borders & Shades in Word 2010
Microsoft Word allows you to place borders similar to text, paragraphs and pages on any or all sides of a table. You can also add a variety of shading to table rows and columns. This chapter will teach you how to add any border (left, right, up or down) around the table and how to add different shadows in different rows and columns of the table.
Add Borders To Table:
The following are simple steps to add borders to a table cell available in a Word document.
Step (1): Select the table to which you want to add the border. To select a table, click anywhere on the table where the Cross Icon will appear in the upper left corner of the table. Just click on the cross icon to select the table.
Step (2): Click the Border button to display a list of options for placing a border around the selected table. You can select any of the available options just by clicking on it. Table border
Step (3): Try adding and removing different borders like left, right, top or bottom by selecting different options from Border Options. Table Border 2
Step (4): You can put a border on any selected row or column. You can try it yourself.
Step (5): To delete the current border, select the No Border option from the Border options.
How to Use Border Options in Microsoft Word 2010?
You can add borders of your choice to word table by following the simple steps given below.
Step (1): Click the Border button to display a list of options for setting up a border. Select the available Border and Shading options below the list of options as shown in the screen capture above. Step (3): You can use the Preview section to disable or enable the left, right, top or bottom borders of the selected table or row or column. Follow the instructions in the preview section to design the border of your choice.
Step (4): You can customize the color and width by using the different width thicknesses available under the styling section.
