Spell and Grammar Check in Word 2010
Microsoft Word provides a decent spelling and grammar checker that enables you to find and correct all spelling and grammar errors in your document. The word is smart enough to point out spelling or misuse as well as grammatical errors and underlines them as follows. A red line below the spelling mistakes. A green underline grammatical errors. Correct spelling but blue line under misused words.
Check Spelling and Grammar using Review tab:
The easiest way to find and correct misspellings is:
Step (1): Click the Review tab and then click the Spell and Grammar button. Spelling Button
Step (2): A dialog box for spelling and grammar will appear and show incorrect spelling or grammar and correct suggestions as shown below:
You now have the following options for correcting a spelling mistake:
- Ignore: If you want to ignore a word, click on this button and the word ignores the word throughout the document.
- Ignore All: Like Ignore, but ignores all instances of the same misspelling, not just this one.
- Add to Dictionary: To add a word to a spelling dictionary, select Add to Dictionary.
- Change: This will replace the wrong word using the suggested correct word.
- Change all: Like change, but change all instances of the same misspelling, not just this one.
- Auto-correct: If you select a suggestion, Word creates an Auto-cricket entry that automatically corrects this spelling error. In case of grammatical errors, the
Following are different options:
- Next sentence: You can click on the next sentence to move the grammar checker to the next
- Sentence Explain: The grammar checker shows the details of the rule that caused the sentence to be marked as possible error.
- Options: This will open the Word Options dialog box so you can change the behavior of the grammar checker or spelling options.
- Undo:This will undo the last grammar Changed.
Step (3): Select one of the suggestions given which you want to use and click on change option to correct spelling or grammar error and step to correct all spelling or grammar error. Repeat.
Step (4): The word displays a dialog box when it completes checking for spelling and grammar errors, finally clicking OK.
Check Spelling and Grammar using Right Click:
If you right-click on a misspelled word, it will show you the correct suggestions for spelling or grammar mistakes and the options mentioned above. Do it yourself.
